North Campus

Hi, I'm Naa, your General Secretary at the Students’ Union and we’re launching our new Students' Union space in the Barnes Wallis students' hub.

This is a space for you to talk to us and access Students’ Union support without having to go to the Union building on Oxford Road. We’re expanding our services at North Campus so you can feel a part of the student community no matter where you are!

Study Spaces

The Barnes Wallis Student Hub has seven small, bookable study rooms with capacity ranging from 4 –10 people. Each room is equipped with a computer, a large AV screen and whiteboards. HDMI cables and whiteboard pens can be borrowed from the Welcome Desk between 9:00 – 17:00 at no cost. These rooms should be booked using the Library tab on My Manchester.

We also have two large study rooms that can be booked, for free, for student focused activities such as society meetings, RA/JCR activities, student fairs, careers events or school/faculty events. Both rooms can accommodate 36 people (seated) or 50 people (standing) and allow catering. These rooms can also be used for informal, end of term events. Our two large study rooms are equipped with whiteboards and a projector and HDMI cable and whiteboard pens can be borrowed from the Welcome Desk, again at no cost. To book these rooms, please email with the date, time and a brief description of your event.

As well as our bookable rooms, the Barnes Wallis Student Hub also has a 57 seat Breakout/social space which is ideal for information meetings and/or events!
