Academic Advice

We’re here for you through any academic problems you might face during your time at Manchester, including appeals, complaints, mitigating circumstances, disciplinary issues and course/university transfers. We offer academic guidance and support that is free, confidential, and completely independent from the University. Advisors are familiar with University procedures, and can provide advice, advocacy, or simply someone to talk to. We are here to help should you encounter any difficulties with your studies during your time at the University of Manchester, so please come by and chat to an advisor if you’re struggling.

What Can We Do?

  • Help you understand the processes for appeals, complaints, mitigating circumstances
  • Support you through the process of submitting an appeal, complaint, application for mitigating circumstances,
  • Help you put together statements and evidence to support your appeal, complaint, application for mitigating circumstances
  • Monitor the progress of your appeal, complaint, application for mitigating circumstances,
  • Provide representation and support by accompanying you to any meetings with the University.
  • Help you explore your options around course worries and changing courses.
  • Provide support in disciplinary, malpractice and misconduct cases by explaining the process and regulations, helping you prepare evidence, attending any hearings with you, and assisting you in appealing any decisions.
  • Provide support with any Fitness to Practice issues, including helping you understand the procedures, assisting you through any investigations, and attending any meetings that take place.
