As we say goodbye to five of our Exec Officers today, they share their best achievements from their time in office.
“I am most proud of being part of a Union which, over the past two years, has weathered such adversity and come out the other side as an organisation which is more supportive, more collegiate and more inspiring.
I am leaving with a full Director team and Trustee Board, eight fantastic sabbatical officers and a staff team that has broken records over the past year. That’s quite something to leave behind, and I am excited to see what such a force will do in the future.”
“I’m really proud of the fact that the Students’ Union will now pay all of its staff the Living Wage from August 2015; a concrete commitment to ethical employment.
Organising a voter registration funfair was also an incredible experience and hopefully we helped to ensure that young people had a voice in the General Election.”
"Definitely the establishment of the ‘Rent Right’ campaign right from the ‘Don’t Let Yet’ launch to the ‘Rate Your Landlord’ Survey.
Everybody has the right to live safely and comfortably and I think we are on the road to having informed and empowered student tenants."
"My greatest achievement has been working with students in the BME campaign and seeing them take on roles of leadership and develop a greater interest in political and social issues.
I am confident that they will drive the campaign forward and take it to new and greater heights."
"I have loved working at the Union these past two years; it has been amazing to see it grow and develop. I have seen students do and achieve incredible things – backed up by a wonderful staff team.
This year I am proud of the work we have done around the Time to Change campaign and I also loved working with Sexpression on Sex Week. I am so happy to pass the reins on to Lucy, the new Wellbeing Officer. I know she’ll do brilliant job!"
Harriet, Jess and Joel remain members of the Exec Team 2015-16.
It's been One Amazing Year!
