The University of Manchester Students’ Union currently has 8 Exec Officer roles. Together, the 8 lovely Officers run campaigns to change aspects of university life for students and play a key role in the Students’ Union decision-making and direction.
The 8 roles are: General Secretary, Women's Officer, International Officer, Activities and Development Officer, Education Officer, Liberation and Access Officer, Welfare & Community Officer, and Postgraduate Officer.
Who can stand to be an Exec Officer?
Any University of Manchester student can stand to be a paid Exec Officer. If you’re in first or second year, you can take a year out of studying to undertake the role. If you’re in your final year, the Exec Officer role could be your first job after graduating.
Why should I stand to be an Exec Officer?
Well, the £19,500 salary is a pretty good reason, but there’s many more. Being an Exec Officer is an impressive first step on the career ladder. When are Exec Elections?
You can stand to be an Exec Officer NOW until the 15th February. After this date, candidates will be prepped and polished in the two weeks before vote opens. Between 28th February and 7th March, all University Of Manchester students will have the opportunity to vote for the Officers they want. Results are announced at our SU-meets-Academy-Awards results night on Thursday 7th March. If all goes well and you win the election for your role, you will start in the new position on 1st July.
