Each year, UoM students as part of Manchester Media Group put their hearts and souls into generating media content for the UK's largest student population here in Manchester. We want to celebrate all the hard work created by the members of MMG this past year with the 2020 Media Awards!

Here at MMG we aim to be the voice of students in Manchester, effecting change and enriching student life.

This category recognises the great potential of the screenplays created for Fuse TV. We hope that someday soon we will be able to come together again and turn these screenplays into full video productions!

Fuse FM have made a real push to increase their online presence this past year and we love all the great creative ways you guys have done this for your own shows too. This category aims to recognise the show which went above the usual when marketing themselves across social media and more.

1. Please provide links to ways you have pushed your show out there to the public – these can be your social media platforms, any soundclouds or mixclouds, podcast platforms you have put content onto, articles written about or by you relating to your show, websites created, times you went out into the street and shouted at strangers to listen to Fuse FM, etc. etc.

This category is for an original preferably breaking story or interview which uncovered a topic no one else had properly looked into before or that students needed to know about in more detail. It must be some real hot, phresh, juicy tea, spilled by The Mancunion’s own hand.

This category recognises a writer who consistently writes high quality pieces on relevant topics and is an enthusiastic member of the section(s) they write for. They have a great writing style and voice, their pieces are always well considered and well-researched, they have a nose for an interesting article and they know how to get to the heart of the issue they are discussing.

Editors I recommend you each nominate a writer from your section for this. Writers can also nominate themselves.

This category recognises an editor who is a fab member of The Mancunion team and a great section editor. They work well with their writers to make a supportive team atmosphere, they consistently write great pieces themselves and mentor their writers to be the best they can be. They have really put their stamp on their own section this year and are conscientious in their work.

Editors may nominate themselves and writers can also nominate their editors if they believe they deserve this award.

- Entries must include a statement of up to 350 words on what the project was, how it came about, which branches of MMG were involved, how you worked together and used each other’s skills. Please include any links to examples of work created in this project.

This award is for the person who has been a star member of MMG this past year. They have their fingers in so many pies, consistently put the work in, and create wonderful things. They are a great team player and are up for helping with a huge range of projects across the media. They not only get involved a lot but also are a creative, innovative thinker and have helped to develop MMG to become better than ever.

The shortlist for this award will be decided by the heads of MMG.
