Welcome to the University of Manchester's first QTIPOC Society! QTIPOC stands for Queer, Trans and Intersex, People of Colour and this society aims to represent and support anyone who comes under this umbrella term. This society is comprised of LGBT BAME students of all sexualities, gender identities, disabilities and faiths, we hope to provide a safe space where QTIPOC students can socialise and meet other QTIPOC students around the campus, create useful dialogue between our racial and sexual intersections, provide volunteering opportunities within the university as well as local community and most importantly have fun in the midst of the chaotic university life!
We are aware that for most of us it may be difficult and nerving coming to LGBT spaces because of cultural upbringing or religious reasons, however fear not! The group is extremely confidential and your personal information will not be shared outside the group. (See Terms and Conditions for more information) Please do come along as you will not regret your decision. Our socials will provide QTIPOC students the chance to get to know others all around the campus AND QTIPOC STUDENTS FROM OTHER MANCHESTER UNIVERSITIES, just so you know that we are not alone! The socials will cater to all your interests, from casual dinner outings perhaps trying out cuisines from our members' cultures to nights out at Canal St. Please note that there will always be non-alcoholic events for those who do not drink and we take into account the dietary requirements that may be needed for our members such as halal and kosher options.
