Whether you work behind the scenes, front of house, in the SU Bar, Bikos, Retail or provide support to our 40,000 students, you’ll be working towards the same goal - ensuring our student members love their time at Manchester.
We’re on a journey to build an amazing students’ union and why wouldn’t we? Our students are some of the most talented, thought-provoking and stimulating people around and they need their union to match. Over the last few years we have undergone a massive change programme to awaken what we’ve always known is there – a political, campaigning and involved student body who love to participate and take the lead. 1 in 3 students are currently involved in at least one activity, but that still isn’t enough.
In the last year, we have commenced work on our new strategy – ‘Made in Manchester’ which will take us to the next level and help us make a lasting impact on the life of every student. We’re also nearly at the end of our £12.5million building re-development project. The support of our University is invaluable and we are lucky to have really great access at all levels of the institution and they have a willingness to listen to the student voice. They rightly expect us to be the expert on our members’ lives.
We are now looking to recruit a new senior leader to support our desire to make a difference to the experience of every one of our 40,000 students.
The Director of Student Engagement will link all our student facing services together into a unified team. These services include support for elected leaders and representatives, our educational engagement team, our student activities, events & volunteering programme, our student communities’ team and our professional advice service. These services have grown exponentially over the last four years, and as we enter the second half of our strategic plan you will play a key role in taking us to the next level.
We’re looking for someone who has senior level experience of an organisation which provides services that have a social outcome. This may be a students’ union, charity or commercial organisation. The important thing is you will be able to embed a culture of continuous improvement, drive us into new areas of work and help us engage further with our students. You will need to show effective stakeholder management and the ability to work in partnership with elected officers, students and the University of Manchester.
If you’re as excited by this opportunity as we are, we would love to hear from you. If you would like an informal discussion about the post, please contact Ben Ward – Chief Executive via firstname.lastname@example.org
