Educational Engagement Coordinator

(full-time, 12 months fixed-term)

Do you have the vision to help our students achieve great educational change?
Do you have the experience, motivation & innovation to help all students identify as partners in their learning, providing varied opportunities for their voices to be heard?

We're in a new and energising phase of Educational Engagement at UMSU and are now recruiting an Educational Engagement Coordinator to work closely with the Educational Engagement Manager to lead the staff support for our ~1,200 elected Student Representatives and associated work  around quality assurance/enhancement, curriculum change, student appeals and complaints.

Working as part of our wider Education and Advocacy team (which provides services relating to Advice, Campaigns, Liberation, Democracy and Student Officer support) you'll have significant opportunity for cross-team working to support some amazing projects to empower our students at an individual, group & institutional level.  

You'll be joining at a time that will enable you to build on some fantastic foundations - continuing to develop strong relationships with Union and University colleagues and engage students in a progressive partnership approach.

Student Staff Roles

Brand Ambassadors (Sept 2019 start, £8.75 per hour - pay award pending)

We're looking for students to join a new team working with Thirteen Media (a subsidiary of the Students’ Union which works with brands to promote their products to students).

Brand Ambassadors will work at the heart of the University campus promoting Union products and services and acting as the face of numerous brands on campus. You'll need to be passionate about customer service and a strong communicator. The role allows you to work flexibly around your studies whilst filling your CV with impressive experience that’ll make you stand out from the crowd.

Venues Supervisors (Sept 2019 start, £9.69 per hour - pay award pending)

Are you able to lead a team in a busy fast-paced environment ? Do you enjoy working with students and delivering excellent customer service ?  Then Venues Supervisor may be the perfect job for you ! With over 400 live shows a year the Manchester Academy Venues are some of the busiest venues in the UK, running alongside the busy 532 Bar & Kitchen and countless student led events means there is great variation and opportunity for a motivated bar supervisor.

You'll need excellent customer service skills, experience in a high-volume bar and the ability to lead a team under pressure. You will need to be available most weekends although you will not necessarily work every one. The role will also include working club-nights, sometimes as late as 6am. Shift lengths will vary from 5-8 hours and will usually be located within the Manchester Academy venues. Each Pangaea is a compulsory shifts for all members of the bars team.
