Are your studies being adversely affected by issues outside of your control? Has this led you to missing deadlines or not performing to the best of your ability?
You should consider submitting a mitigating circumstances form (which can be collected from your school office) with all relevant evidence. Your form will be treated in confidence and is your way of informing the University that your performance is not to the standard that it usually would be without these difficulties.
The outcome of accepting a mitigating circumstances claim can include: allowing a further re-sit opportunity; removing the cap on reassessments or considering borderline degree classifications.
It is vital however that you inform the University of these issues as soon as they happen. If you have already received your results, you ought instead to consider an Academic Appeal.
Some examples of mitigating circumstances include: serious ill health, death or serious illness of others, acute financial or emotional trauma or absence for maternity/paternity leave. A more exhaustive list can be found here.
